1980’s Moving to “Center of Plate”

The 1980's brought two more acquisitions; DMS Foods and ABC Wholesalers. As frozen food technology improved, Jake's moved toward those "center of the plate" items that are so important to the success of its customers. To meet these inventory needs, Jake’s tripled freezer space with a new, state-of-the-art, quarter million cubic foot freezer.

 

1990’s Increasing Services with JFF

The 1990's continued with an increasing commitment to servicing the needs of Jake's expanding customer base. Jake's acquired Southwest Traders, a yogurt and ice cream distributor and became the master distributor for Vienna Beef products. To further expand the level of service to customers, Jake's added an Equipment and Supply Department, as well as a Design Department. Additionally, an international division, JFF International, was formed to handle overseas export.

 

In early 2010, Jake’s will move into its new state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution facility at 13400 Hollister Drive. This new industry-leading facility will feature dozens of innovations and energy-saving elements in its design, resulting in greater warehousing capacity, unparalleled food storage processes and the ability to efficiently distribute more than 20,000 items. Although Kervin “Jake” Jacob has since passed on, the company that bears his name still maintains his motto: “Dreams really can come true when your values include commitment, service, and a good day’s work!”
